Saheli Women’s Group is working on a project to explore how the government’s public spending cuts are affecting the lives of women & communities in Sparkbrook.
We are looking to work with women from all Faiths who share our concern about the forthcoming changes and who have enthusiasm for their local communities. This project will support you to become peer researchers in this unique project funded by the Near Neighbours fund.
As a peer researcher you will be a central part of the project. You will help us to capture personal testimonies from people who are living through unprecedented cuts to public spending and services by:
- Taking part in interactive workshops to examine what people are saying and what is happening locally.
- Taking part in independent validated Research.
- Conducting short interviews with people.
- Taking photographs of life in your local area.
What is peer research?
Peer research is an approach that puts people at the heart of the research process by training them to become active researchers in their local community; designing methods, conducting interviews, taking photographs, videoing short conversations and then helping to analyse findings to improve the understanding of local issues & to come up with solutions.
In return you will Gain:
Training in how to carry out social research from professional researchers.
Understand the issues affecting local communities and people & draw up possible solutions.
Networking with other women and Organisations of all Faiths in Sparkbrook.
